iCloud

Here it comes! Apple announced some new features; OS X Lion, iOS 5 and iCloud. Apple had already announced OS X Lion but they unveiled more details about it at this time. It's just great. I like the concept that Apple has tried to create the Lion and other products as functional, innovative and cool as possible. 
The concept of iCloud is "PC Free." It's still practically hard to rely on iPad and other small gadgets at work. However, iPad will have a split keyboard and iCloud can connect everything no matter what devices you use. It's gonna be more practical and come in handy when the feature comes out. They are serious about making these happen having the new 3rd data center in NC. 
Today's Apple updates accelerate the time when digital textbooks come to the reality just like paper textbooks.

Homework

ついにロイターにも取り上げられました。考えないといけないです。「宿題を出さないといけない」という考えが先行していますが、何をどれだけやれば授業のreviewやreinforceになったり、次の授業につながるのか、内容と量を考えなければいけません。


以前、学校のProfessional Development Dayで見た、カリフォルニアの家族の宿題に追われるドキュメンタリーのトレイラーを探そうとしたら、こんなのが出てきました。

iPads in Japan

I read this book again and googled how much iPads are used in education in Japan.
大して掘っていませんが、こんな記事や、あんな記事が見つかりました。これもそうですね。他にも、現場教員の声と大学での導入報告もありました。


直接学校での導入例では無いですが、コレはすごい。佐賀県武雄市、アツイです。初代館長は読み返した本の著者の方で、彼の勤務する慶応大学大学院メディアデザイン研究所大学と武雄市が組んでこのプロジェクトが現実化されたようです。地元のメディアも何気に協力している？ところもアツイ。


少し古いですが、音楽に導入された例の映像がありました。


今はこういう時期ですね。

Internet Data Says...

Akamai shows rankings of Internet users, connection speeds and etc. by countries. The data says that the US has the most Internet users, yet you need to think about it as percentage of population in each country. In terms of percentage, Japan and Korea are just about as same as the US. This fact has to do with this issue and accelerates the development of digital textbooks. Pelican dads?... Catch up in ITC! Hope it's not too late. Good luck with them.

The New York City public schools have ordered more than 2,000 iPads, for $1.3 million; 300 went to Kingsbridge International High School in the Bronx, or enough for all 23 teachers and half of the students to use at the same time.

More than 200 Chicago public schools applied for 23 district-financed iPad grants totaling $450,000. The Virginia Department of Education is overseeing a $150,000 iPad initiative that has replaced history and Advanced Placement biology textbooks at 11 schools. And six middle schools in four California cities (San Francisco, Long Beach, Fresno and Riverside) are teaching the first iPad-only algebra course, developed by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

ちなみに、Appsは日本語ではアプスではなくアプリです。よく考えてみればそうなんですが、どうやって言うのか少し考えてしまいました・・・
